Autumn ’44 Campaign – Act 2 Commences

The second act of the Flying Tin Cans ‘Autumn ’44’ campaign covers the immediate aftermath of the failed Operation Market Garden in late September.

Ground action came to a bit of a stall around Nijmegen and Arnhem. The 8th AF resumed its daylight bombing campaign and various Luftwaffe units are re-tasked again for Reich’s Defense, leaving primarily British 2 TAF units and JG26 with some ancillary Luftflotte West units as the main protagonists over the Netherlands area.

Frequent clashes occur as the Allies defend the salient left over from Market Garden and Germans are trying to initially re-take and later destroy the key bridges around Nijmegen.
